Mental Health & Community Hospital, Ayrshire

Renray supplied a selection of challenging environment and healthcare furniture to the state of the art £46 million adult mental health and community hospital, Woodland View, on the Ayrshire Central Hospital site. This 206 en-suite bedroom facility is focused on delivering inpatient and outpatient mental health services for adults, including: rehabilitation, continuing care, addictions, forensics, and intensive psychiatric care.
Conveniently located beside the North Weald Airfield, residents have a unique opportunity to embrace the daily comings and goings of aircraft, adding a touch of excitement to their everyday lives.

Split into two wings, the facility supports both elderly mental health, specifically dementia care, and incorporates research by the Dementia Services Development Centre at Stirling University, on one side and acute mental ill-health patient care on the other.

The design goal for this project was to create a homely, bright and comfortable setting, inspired by the surrounding costal nature, to help aide the service user’s recovery journey to recovery. Using our own expertise and experience of designing for mental health and dementia units, we supplied furniture that offered comfort, functionality, and style, using suitable upholstery and design for mental health and elderly patients.

Following a construction period of 21 months, Woodland View opened ahead of schedule and on budget, and is hailed amongst the best facilities for mental health in Scotland. Woodland View has been awarded: Building Better Healthcare: Best Mental Health Development 2016, and European Healthcare Design Mental Health Award 2017.
